Reflection:

I chose Piet Mondrian for my final project because I have always enjoyed the art he has made in his career. The name of this piece is Composition with Red, Blue and Yellow. Piet Mondrian created this piece Dutch art movement De Stijl to achieve universal harmony and pure expression, stripping away nature to reveal underlying reality through basic, balanced elements. This ceramics project is the result of my investigation of the principles of balance, composition, and abstraction in the works of Piet Mondrian as applied to a three-dimensional object. Mondrian's bold black lines and primary colors have inspired me to carve and raise his grid compositions to allow the geometric design to flow around the box, rather than being flat. Mondrian's colors in his paintings contrast so effectively, creating a balance of simplicity. However, Mondrian's paintings seem so clean and calculated, while my principles in this ceramics project have allowed me to introduce irregularities to achieve a more natural, human result.

I enjoyed the process of making this, I thought this was a very creative idea. I'm very happy that I was able to create this piece in one take. I used Venus white and my plan was to create something big enough to hold the amount of food I needed to bring. One thing I enjoyed was putting on the chocolate chips and glazing them.
